What Is a Password Generator?
A Password Generator is an online tool that creates random passwords using a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols. It helps you create strong, unique passwords without having to think of them yourself.
Our free password generator lets you choose the password length, character types, and advanced settings. You can generate a single password or multiple passwords at once.
Unlike manually created passwords, which may contain predictable words or patterns, randomly generated passwords are harder to guess when they use sufficient length and secure randomness.
How to Use the Password Generator
You can generate a password in a few simple steps:
Choose Password Length: Select a length between 4 and 50 characters. For stronger security, consider using 16 or more characters.
Select Quantity: Choose how many passwords to generate, from 1 to 20.
Choose Character Types: Include uppercase letters (A–Z), lowercase letters (a–z), numbers (0–9), and symbols.
Adjust Advanced Options: Exclude similar or ambiguous characters, require the password to begin with a letter, or avoid sequential and duplicate characters.
Generate Passwords: Click the Generate button to create your random passwords.
Copy Your Password: Copy the generated password and save it in a trusted password manager.
You can change the settings and generate new passwords whenever needed.
How Does Our Random Password Generator Work?
Our random password generator uses the browser's Web Crypto API (crypto.getRandomValues()) to generate cryptographically secure random values.
These values are used to select characters from your chosen character set. The selection process avoids modulo bias, helping ensure that characters are chosen fairly from the available options.
The generator also applies your selected settings, such as password length, allowed characters, and advanced restrictions.
Your passwords are generated locally in your browser. We don't store generated passwords or send them to our servers.
Password Combinations Formula
The number of possible passwords depends on the number of available characters and the password length.
For passwords where each character is independently and uniformly selected from the same character set:
C=NL
Where:
C = Total possible combinations
N = Number of available characters
L = Password length
For example, a 12-character password using 62 uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and digits has:
C=6212
That is approximately (3.23×1021) possible combinations.
This formula assumes repeated characters are allowed and no additional restrictions apply. Options such as No Duplicates or Begin with Letter change the number of possible combinations.
What Makes a Strong Password?
A strong password generator helps create passwords that are difficult to predict. However, password strength depends on more than including symbols or numbers.
The most important factors are:
Length: Longer passwords generally provide more protection against guessing attacks.
Randomness: Randomly selected characters help prevent predictable patterns.
Uniqueness: Every important account should have its own password.
Character Variety: Letters, numbers, and symbols can increase the available character set when selected randomly.
For most accounts, a randomly generated password of 16 characters or more is a practical choice when the website supports it.
A longer password is generally preferable to a short, complicated-looking password.

Why Use Our Secure Password Generator?
Our secure password generator is designed to help you create customizable passwords while keeping the generation process private.
Cryptographically Secure Randomness
The tool uses crypto.getRandomValues() rather than ordinary pseudorandom methods intended for general-purpose applications.
Private Browser-Based Generation
Passwords are generated directly in your browser. Generated passwords are not sent to our servers or stored by us.
Custom Password Settings
Choose your preferred length, character types, and advanced options to meet different account requirements.
Generate Multiple Passwords
Create up to 20 passwords at once instead of generating them individually.
Free and Easy to Use
You can use this online password generator without creating an account or paying a fee.
Password Security Best Practices
Creating a strong password is only one part of keeping your accounts secure.
Use a unique password for every account. Reusing passwords can put multiple accounts at risk if one service experiences a data breach.
Use a password manager. A trusted password manager can store and organize your passwords securely.
Enable multifactor authentication (MFA). MFA adds another layer of protection beyond your password.
Avoid personal information. Don't use names, birthdays, phone numbers, or other easily guessed details.
Change compromised passwords. Replace a password if you believe it has been exposed or stolen.
Use passkeys when available. Passkeys offer a phishing-resistant alternative to traditional passwords on supported services.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Is this password generator free?
Yes. Our password generator is free to use. You can generate passwords with different lengths, character types, and advanced settings without signing up.
Is this online password generator safe?
Yes, the generator uses cryptographically secure randomness through crypto.getRandomValues() and avoids modulo bias during character selection. Passwords are generated locally in your browser and are not sent to our servers or stored by us.
How do I generate a strong password?
Choose a password length of 16 characters or more, enable the character types accepted by your account, and click Generate. Save the result in a trusted password manager rather than trying to memorize several complex passwords.
Is a 12-character password strong enough?
A securely generated 12-character password can be difficult to guess, but longer passwords provide a larger space of possible combinations. When possible, choose 16 or more characters for additional protection.
Can I generate passwords with symbols and numbers?
Yes. You can include uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. You can also adjust advanced options to exclude certain characters or patterns.
Can I generate multiple random passwords at once?
Yes. The calculator lets you generate between 1 and 20 passwords at a time.
Are my generated passwords saved?
No. The generator creates passwords locally in your browser. We do not store generated passwords or send them to our servers.
What is the difference between a random password and a strong password?
A random password is created through a random selection process. A strong password has enough unpredictability to resist guessing attacks.
A randomly generated password can still be weak if it is too short or uses a very limited character set.
Should I use the same password for multiple accounts?
No. Use a different password for every account. This helps prevent attackers from accessing other accounts if one password becomes compromised.
